NATURALLY IMPERFECT.
Each piece of wood used in a Peep Show is unique, knots and all. No paint or stains are used, allowing the surfaces to age gracefully as only real wood can. We use solid, vertical grain, Western Red Cedar sourced locally in the Pacific Northwest. Not only is it naturally water- and warp-resistant, it just happens to look good, too. Sanded smooth on the outside, the wood surfaces inside the nest are intentionally left rough, making it easier for fledglings to climb to their first flight.

When it came to inventing the most advanced birdhouse on the planet, we took a page from the aerospace playbook by utilizing the most advanced fabrication on the planet—additive manufacturing (a.k.a. 3D printing). This ultra-efficient process means less waste, less energy, and less plastic used—65% less than injection molding. This process also allows the use of advanced bioplastics instead of traditional petroleum-based plastic.

When it came to choosing the material for the shell, we searched until we found a material Mother Nature would approve of. PolyTerra® is a plastic-like product made from corn and biocompounds. It shares some attributes of traditional plastics (strong, lightweight, all-weather durable), but is made without petroleum. Even better, the makers of PolyTerra® plant one tree for every spool of filament used. So every new Peep Show in a backyard means one new tree in the forest.

Instead of a 6,500-mile scenic cruise in a container ship, your Peep Show travels less than a mile from our small Seattle shop to the neighborhood post office. Decreased transportation means increased sustainability—and a dramatically decreased carbon footprint. Made in USA means shorter lead times, a higher standard of safety, better quality control, living wages and the assurance of ethical environmental standards. Besides, we just like making stuff.

Fun fact: birds like trees. Another fun fact, we kinda' like them, too. That's why we have partnered with One Tree Planted, a nonprofit that is on a mission to restore forests that have been degraded by human activities or environmental disasters. For every Peep Show sold, a donation is made to plant one new tree. So for every Peep Show in a backyard, there will be a new tree in a forest.

Our innovative and endlessly adaptable quick camera mount is designed to play nice with leading consumer Smart Home camera systems: Blink, Wyze, Arlo, Ring and eufy, with more to come. This open-source approach sidesteps obsolescence to allow your Peep Show to easily update to the latest smart-home technologies. After all, we want to see your Peep Show in your backyard, not in a landfill.
